Rewind: How to find your niche as a visual storyteller
How would you define your own sketching? Is it characteristic because of your drawing style, the pens you use, or because of the themes you cover?
This presentation focuses on how to find our niche as visual storytellers. What topics are you interested in? What subjects do you gravitate towards? People, places, events?
I sketched many different subjects in my 12 years as a sketch columnist at The Seattle Times, from historic landmarks and new construction to small businesses and community events. My drawing style and tools changed over time, but my focus on Seattle is what defined the feature.
