London, February 23, 2024 — Today I am being a tourist in my own city. I am booked on a “Women of London” walking tour. It is a sharply cold morning, but I’m not the only one interested in taking one of these tours as International Women’s Day on March 8 approaches. A mother and daughter from Southern California and a young woman from Rome have also bought a £25 ticket for the two-and-a-half-hour excursion titled “Working Women in the East End.”
So interesting Lis. I think I remember a fairy story about the Match Girls. And was reminded by your article that women were previously kept in their place by not having access to public bathrooms, so they could never go too far from home.
Loved the history tour. Lis is so good at using white space.

Great drawings and well written narrative. Thanks for presenting her work. Frank B
Beautiful drawings and important stories to share.
Love the narrative. That tour sounds really interesting. I also love the way Lis used w/c shapes and sparse line. Really lovely.
This sounds just wonderful! I would add that to my activities next time in London for sure!
I loved this, Lis & Gabi! Great idea, wonderful drawings & story. Nothing like being a tourist in your own city!
Lovely drawings and lively info.! What a fun tour. Thanks, Lis!
Lovely drawings & lovely post. What markers are you using?
